it’s so hard to explain to normal people that i have online friends because they start to judge you after you say “online”
I guess I don’t understand the distinction between ‘friend’ and ‘online friend’. Especially considering that my ‘online friends’ are better ‘friends’ than my ‘non-online friends’.
It mainly comes down to people not treating ‘online’ as a real place. I could say I have friends in England, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, and a multitude of other physical locations, but it’s not like I’ve met them. Just because I can’t high-five them any time I want doesn’t mean we’re not actually friends. The Internet has brought about friendships not based on proximity, and that scares the bejesus out of people.
