It is so unbelievably rubbish that Tumblr doesn’t show everything posted by everyone I follow on my dashboard.

And that some of my long time followers might not be seeing my posts now!

(ivotemelkov told me that Tumblr said:

The first page of the Dashboard (or the first 10 posts if Endless scrolling enabled) shows the most recent 10 posts among all the people you follow, then only the posts from the most recent 100 users you follow who posted something. There’s no way to change that, but I can’t tell you how much we appreciate your support and feedback. I’ve passed your suggestion along to our team.”)

Oh my god, SERIOUSLY?!

DOT DOT DOT

OMG SO I WASN’T JUST IMAGINING THAT SHIT

THERE’S NO WAY 2 CHANGE THAT WHAT??? b u l l s h i t

i dont understand

why this is even a thing/????

Wait, hold on a second. If it picks from the last 100 people you follow, that means in order to miss something you’d have to go back on your dashboard far enough that 100 unique blogs have posted. That gives an extremely lower bound of 10 pages minimum for this to have any effect, but in reality you would probably need to go back hundreds of pages before you miss something. This will never be a problem for the vast majority of tumblr users and, from a scalability point of view, it makes perfect sense for the limitation to exist.

Everybody listen to Fraxtil. He knows what’s up.
